Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate is a district-wide mentoring and student support program of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. BRMA offers mentoring, advocacy, tutoring, enrichment, leadership development, and scholarship support services to students. BRMA targets African-American and Latino students for enrollment as a part of our district’s efforts to improve the achievement of students of color. BRMA selects students for mentoring during their fourth grade year, and it is our intention to continue supporting them through high school graduation. Subsidiary programs of BRMA include the BRMA Tutorial and the Blue Ribbon Youth Leadership Institute.
Mission

BRMA serves to establish supportive relationships between adults and children to broaden children’s visions of their future, consequently helping them reach their fullest academic, physical, emotional, and social potential.
